    The ring of visibility has numerous uses throughout the game, in addition to being able to do The Curse of Zaros, The General's Shadow and Hopespears Will it will allow you to do the following: See a Ghostly Penguin that randomly teleports around the world, this awards 3 Penguin Points for spotting and successfully interacting with it See the invisible portals in the wilderness from Summer's End (need Jennicas's ring to access them) Allow you to obtain the Holy Cithara of St Elspeth from the undercroft in the Abbey - also requires amulet of ghostspeak and wearing 6 Saradomin Items, have full run energy and be on the Standard Spell and Prayer books Various uses in future quests that I won't spoil yet.... Blame the Gower brothers no longer wanting to work on the game and selling out to vulture capitlists who want to make ALL the available money from the game for being riddled with microtransactions. The only way to solve this would be to take Jagex into public ownership, never happening with how much the game is valued at nowadays and the fact that neither the current Tory Goverment or the almost certainly incoming Labour (a sad shell of it's former socialist roots that continuously purges it's remaining centre left elements) would be willing to do such a thing. No small to medium independant company is going to take it on or has the financial means of doing so. Good job on spotting Valdez, he's not easy to see even with the ring on! This miniquest (2005) was released in the era when they player character was still a mercenary arsehole. It's a consequence of completeing the quests in Timeline order instead of Release order that you see this back and forth with the player characters personality. Ugh this was the one time you should have listened to Sir Theodore and not Nickman, your instinct that it was the wilderness Bandit Camp was the correct one! Grrr forget that Sir Theodore was useless as well, those obelisks are useless if you can't control where they teleport you. You need to complete the Hard Wilderness Tasks to be able to control those properly. For future reference in getting to the Rogues Castle, first use the wilderness lever in edgeville to get to the high level area, run north and slash the web open, run north to the coast, then run east past the scorpions until you are north of the rogue's castle (Be wary of the chaos elemental in this area), this route should avoid most dangers. Well you made it to the Rogue's Castle as last (completely the wrong place..... it's not even one of three possible places..... Nickman completely messed you up here, your instincts about it being the wilderness Bandit Camp were 100% correct! I think what Nickman meant by "being too much of a crutch" is that you should already know the procedure for wilderness safety now without needing to ask (other than the new way to enable PVP which you are doing for the first time here), but you keep asking instead of doing and learning. This Wilderness Bandit Camp is the place my Aristachus lost his first hardcore life because I hadn't realised they had updated the area requiring me to be skulled to be able to travel safely through the area. Yes that bit of dialogue about Icthlarin was the first hint at how interelated the desert and mahjarrat storylines truly are :) Well done for remembering to opt out of PVP after leaving. The dialogue is very wierd in this miniquest, they never actually originally tell you where the next ghost actually is until you "ask again" when you haven't even asked the first time. Port Phasmatys was certainly a good well intentioned guess, sadly Larissa is not there, she's at Port Sarim :) Nice second guess though :)

    Ah I see Arctic Gaming has already told you the scoop on how this particular spicy sausage was made so I don't need to repeat it, but yeah it was wild!. If you had done Desert Treasure a couple of months later you would have seen Azzanadra's updated character model that is far more in line with his Mahjarrat self, instead of wierd ghost Anubis that would be reused for Icthlarin's older character model. Although the fact it took so long to update that ugly old character model for one of the games iconic characters is pretty unreal. Yeah the Hero Pass triggered me to take a 6 month break from the game, I started playing again in March 2024. This quest is one of only two times those ice gloves from Hero's Quest come in useful :) The Fremmenik Islands of Jatiszo and Neitiznot did not exist when this quest was released, so there was no way to mistake that area. This quest has Troll Stronghold as a requirement for a reason, without that quest you can't access the area where the Ice Trolls are. This quest does not have The Fremenik Isles as a requirement which you needed to even access that place. Nickman and Theodore told you where it was, why didn't you believe them? This Ice part is the worst part of the quest, so much annoying janky content that is never done again.... you never have to have specialist equipment to traverse icy areas in any other context. There isn't any kind of warm clothing that prevents this effect. These trolls used to be hostile so you just ended up killing them to progress the quest, now it's worse you have to just attack them and realise that helps. If you attack an enemy with non melee that only uses melee and you are standing outside their movement range they will slowly run away until they either dead or out of range of your weapons. These wolves are not meant to be killed, you just run past them praying melee and stay alive, then get your stats back once the boss shows up. At least after you are done with the ice part you will never have to visit this area ever again :) Nickman predicted you would run into this problem when you splurged on the kind of climbing boots even though he tried to get you to buy the 12 gold ones.. prediction 100% correct :) They made this bizarre change in 2010 years before the evolution of combat because these boots had a melee bonus of +2 and in in their blessed cotton socks world they deemed 12gp was too easy to acquire a +2 item nobody was even using anyway except for their purpose to climb Trollhiem so they put the price to 75k (a significant chunk of money back then) and introduced the 12gp climbing boots instead. This made people who had hoarded these boots for some reason instant multi millionaires and triggerd a world 66 riot in Falador (the traditional world and place for a riot since the infamous 6/6/6 Falador Massacre event) attented by people who hadn't made such a sudden windfall. I have no idea if behind the scenes shenenegains were going on but it ceraintly triggered conspiracy theories of that nature. Well done to Sir Theodore for remembering you had that Hair Clip, this saves much aggrevation during this part of the quest... Oh I wasn't expecting the Hair Clip to get destroyed by this quest, that should have been immune to breaking (I guess they changed that after they introduced the toolbelt lockpick).... My Aristachus character got really lucky and got this with 4 lockpicks, but I remember going through inventory full after inventory full of liockpicks on my original main character. Getting it in less than 28 (ie a full inventory) wasn't too terrible. Congratulations on finally getting one of the most awkward and jankiest quests done. The Ancient Magicks have their uses but they are now more niche since the Evolution of Combat. The Ancient Staff can be upgraded to an Enhanced Ancient Staff but that requires completion of the Elite Desert Tasks which are very difficult to complete.

    The Magic Logs requirement for this quest means ironmen have to either have Level 75 Woodcutting, or source the Magic Logs from a high level monster, most of which require high slayer levels to kill. The one that doesn't is the King Black Dragon. So I had to grind the King Black Dragon on my Arstachus character to do this quest. Oh wow, you spent so long trying to get Spiked Boots from Dunstan for Troll Stronghold when you didn't need them, and now you finally arrived at the quest where you do need them and you've completely forgotten where you get them from. Ironic how your brain works.... Ignore the strange rock formation in the water you can't see it, it doesn't exist for you..... Damn Theodore for showing you that spoiler content, he should damn well know better, why on earth is he showing you that when all you need to do is teleport to the Dig Site from your Archaeology Journal which you are always wearing.... You got that Codex Ultmatus because you have completed The Dig Site, acquired 75 in one of your combat skills (in your case Magic) and spoken to Terry Balando for the first time since then, nothing to do with that place you were definitely not at. I personally haven't used these abilities because they are really niche and actually can damage you so if you use them at the wrong time they could kill you. A maniple is an ancient Roman military unit formation from the early Roman Republic era that was a predecessor to the classic century Roman Legion formations that you are probably most familiar with, you will note that Jagex borrowed heavily from Ancient Rome in it's Zarosian Lore, something that crops up again and again. Brackets is a British thing, when we mean square brackets, we say square brackets. Years ago it took me forever to realise that when Americans say parenthesis they mean brackets :) These are different diamonds to the Kharid Ib but it is interesting that you make that connection. I will not say any more than that :) I love how Nickman (and myself) know you so well by now. We both know you will never remember how to use the smithing and smelting interfaces. Finally Nickman corrected about the ring although it's still not enough, I've hated every time you used that metaphor because it was utterly wrong. In Gunnar's Ground the smith in Edgeville traded a song for a gold ring, because he valued that song so much because it he was a hopeless romantic. Your analogy for the economy has been completely wrong all this time and you keep repeating this incorrect analogy, and having to listen to this incorrect nonsense every time infuriates me. Lord Malak is the one vampyre in Morytania that never got a graphical update when River of Blood was released. He is never interacted with outside of this quest which is why he was missed, but he is refrenced in the quest In Aid of the Myreque where he apparently got ill after trying to tithe one of the afflicted residents of Mor'ton. The interesting this is that Deossus did get a graphical update but it was before even Lord of Vampyrium was released and poor Malak got overlooked. Unfortunatly an Ivandis Flail will not take out this vampyre (even though it totally should!) it's why I think Legacy of Seergaze should be placed after Desert Treasure in the timeline. They buffed the quest bossed in this one, but that's 1 of 4 down! Huh that stranger showing up is supposed to be a random event during this quest whenever you have one of the diamonds but he's not supposed to show up immediately upon getting one.

    Definitely want to see more! It's a slow-burner of a game. Much much scavenging of crates is required to accumulate some useful materials. 1) Make a mattress to set a spawn point 2) Take all the quests/jobs from Ron & Frank, they give you much-needed starting EXP to put into skill points: 'scavenger' is useful as you loot better stuff 3) Make that crossbow and start killing from a distance. You'll loot some neat stuff from the low-lifes and bone crushers and bandits. 4) Explore! Check settlements and towns for invaluable traders and more jobs/quests (and make mattresses in those towns too so you don't have to run all the way back)

    you could only carry the rope in your hand (you didn't have enough space in your inventory), so you dropped it when you took the grasshopper purée into your hand. Also, you could make the rag backpack, but the items need to be in the corresponding stacks. You have 8 rags in your jacket, but 2 in your pants, so it doesn't recognize it as craftable Early inventory management is tricky. Remember things have both size (volume) and weight. Also, for sorting/stacking : it's tricky because all items have *conditon* so a 30% stone might not automatically stack with a 15% stone. If you click items with the middle mouse button you stack them but *caution* - stacked items inherit the condition of the item you clicked. So if you had a 98% stone, it would be downgraded to a 15% if you middle-clicked on the 15% stone. On the flip-side, if you middle-click on the 98% stone, all the others get upgraded too...

    Ending a stream when you are half way doing a particular quest step never seems to work well for you :) You really need to learn to read tooltips, you take your time looking at every little nook and cranny in the surrounding area but you never take the extra second to properly read the tooltip before clicking on something ;P Ancient confusing graphical issues caused by a lack of instancing pervade this quest, it's something they have never dared adress because they don't want to go near that old spaghetti code. That riddle on the door is the worst, all it means is cast a spell on the door but doesn't really tell you which one, but there is more to find on that door, but even then it's obtuse... But the main clue here is the quest's Magic requirement which is 56, look that up in your spell book and you find Charge Water Orb. "Hello this is clearly not a really obvious anagram of the totally not evil demon you recently fought!" Once you are done with the water in the cave you are on the final stretch, no need to enter that cave again. I love it when you defeat the demon for the third time ans you just sass it, "Yeah yeah! Heard it all before!" Congratulations on compleing Legends Quest and earinig that cape! The fairy ring access is super useful when doing clue scrolls as well as quests where a lot of travelling around is required. The Quest Cape also has the Legends Guild as a teleport option among a bunch of others.

    i never use mods it feel like im playing a different game all togeather when mods are used because it is not how the game is intended to be played , changeing the setting in game is not the same as installing a mod and cheesing the game by useing in game items to destroy the stares is not the same as installing a mod

    • @syntaxic
      @syntaxic День тому

      Eh, there's a *wide* range of mods and how they affect the game can vary just as much. Even the devs play with mods, with one dev showing they had over 400 mods downloaded in one of their videos and many systems in the game first started as mods (erosion, farming, and I believe even cars). There's a lot of great quality of life mods out there that address and streamline things like inventory and the various menus that just make the game more accessible. Then you've got mods like Britta's or the ones that add NPCs that absolutely change the game in its entirety. In the end, it's still a work in progress, so play however you like, but you can absolutely keep the original feel of the game intact while using mods.

    43:08 You can see your initial mistake right here: there's a lovely avenue of relatively clear land available that almost reaches to your new ore mine; you only needed to extend the horizontal road by a dozen tiles or so :( As with almost all these game types, food is always the most important thing when starting, hence planting fields/orchards is almost the first thing to concentrate on because of the growing time. For SoS the next priority is furniture, followed by tools, as they're effectively 'consumables'. Ofc furniture requires a carpenter, & tools require a smelter & smith, so these aren't things you can necessarily plan for as a first-time player, but it's a consideration when you're planning an expansion (for both population and buildings). FWIW you don't need a huge amount of tools to sustain a working population, tho they can be useful trade goods Last I checked, some animals produce 'cotton', which can be used for cloth-making (I guess the DEV didn't want to deal with the minutiae of animal vs plant fibres), but this may have changed. Certainly your initial animal choice gave you (IIRC) the option to have animals producing <fibre> as well as the more typical stuff, which would have suited your veggie population a bit better.. but nvm (BTW I don't think 'vegetarian' == 'vegan' in this game: you may get away with feeding fussy ppl with milk & eggs) If you build (say) stone houses down near the new mine(s), the dwarf equivalents won't have so far to walk to get to work & will be much happier. Stone roads to there would be a good idea to there too, for the additional movement speed; add a well, hearth, food & temple & they should be fine for quite a while. It's fine to build separate 'enclaves' tuned to individual races: eventually the population will automatically sort itself out WRT their living location preferences. This means you can have races who hate each other living on the same map.. provided they're not too close to their racial adversaries :) As you've discovered, decorations & entertainment can make a significant difference to the happiness (loyalty?) of your citizens, so build the former as much as reasonable - they don't take many resources & are generally quick to build - in their appropriate areas (eg Krastorians like trees; Dondorians like benches etc) To keep stock moving, you really need dedicated HAULERS, which IIRC require their own building (& possibly tech) TPI: Krastorians are terrible fighters for both offence & defence; if you're planning to withstand a raid in the future, training up a bunch of at least Dondorians may be useful If you want some further research vids, Aavak did a recent runthru which may be of help (altho he was on 0.65) here: ua-cam.com/play/PLoD8-EPclbcQWiusoHhOtMwng8Iky5WTt.html Key components are: allow for lots of expansion & build buildings bigger to incorporate their desired workforce. Don't worry about limiting that building's workforce until you have the population (ie leaving the building partially unused): it'll need the workers eventually. Likewise (early on at least) limit your field workers as you've huge fields & not enough pop to sustain the rest of the workforce

    Legend's Quest is an epic and landmark quest that is sadly marred by both the still ancient graphics and the extremely janky RNG skill mechanics. The Legends cape I will always remember fondly and it was my character Aristachus cape of choice until better things came along. I have no idea why you decided to abandon the subjugation robes, you will not be using them for necromancy upgrades for a looooong time.... You died to a giant chicken.... that must rank as the most embarrassing death ever.... The had to update the bullroarer so that other players couldn't hear it's sound as people would spam use it at the Grand Exchange to be annoying. Before the quest overview started listing required items this quest forced a lot of back and forth for items if you didn't use a quest guide, on top of the back and forth that is mandatory for this quest. Unfortunately it seems they were not specific enough when it came to what gems and how many unpowered orbs were necessary. They actually had to program different rune solutions for this quest for different supported languages (German, French and Portugeese) Another annoyance is that everytime you mine through those rocks you get useless rock chunks in your inventory.

You can turn down the amount of zombie's that can spawn, if you want (usually at the beginning of a game, but a mod will let you change your game-start parameters). @@DrIncompetent Respawning zombies can be disabled (in a new game, or with the mod that allows one to change settings) by setting Respawn Hours to 0. Zombies can be further contained by setting the Redistribute Hours to 0 (this will prevent zombies from migrating to unoccupied areas of their cell). I tend use a lower Respawn Multiplier, and often set my Respawn Unseen Hours to 168 or 336 hours (one or two weeks, respectively). That prevents zombies from coming back to areas you frequent regularly, but allows them to respawn in places you haven't been to in a while.

    I honestly think they should move the earliest Necromancy quests (All of them up to and including The Spirit of War and That Old Black Magic) into the Fifth Age, it would only take a few minor dialogue tweaks to achieve this as those quests don't require Sixth Age Content and are pretty timeline agnostic. Yes Battleship is very much played and sold in the UK, pretty much every boardgame you could find in the USA is sold internationally. Fortunately for you the AI is dumb as bricks when it comes to playing this, you would have to get incredibly unlucky to lose this. Same applies to the end sequence so long as you keep the sub properly opperational. This is one of two quests that introduce a new event to the circus, the other is The Firemaker's Curse. You won't get full credit from me for completing the Heroic section until you complete all of the miniquests :) The music in the city of Um reminds me of the opening minutes of Echoes by Pink Floyd. Ted's been having a Bogus Journey, he seems to have lost Bill as well :) You can ultimately earn all of the talents in the tree, but they get more difficult to earn the more of them you unlock, so some are more worth prioritsing than others. The good thing with Necromancy is that you get a tutorial on all of your abilities as you unlock them, something that is severly lacking in the other combat skills. I also think Um is also a pun on the ancient city of Ur which was one of the very first recorded cities on Earth built by humans. At least by the time you are doing Necromancy properly you will find the area much less crowded as all the people who rushed the skill are long gone :) When doing Necromancy combat the game will make itself very clear when you have earned one, and they come pretty quickly at the start as well so don't worry too much on that accord. The amount of xp you get for catching moths goes up for every moth you have caught. It would really help if you moved your buff bar somewhere where you can actually see your buffs so you would know if you were gaining necrosis stacks (the skull symbol) Wrong! You used a ton of lamps on Summoning, that's how you leveled summoning.... (I won't allow you to get away with lying to your audience, even if it is as a result of your poor memory)

      Good question! All the cards in your hand get discarded, so the card will go there anyway, but if you play it instead, you can affect the order the card goes into the discard stack. However, I don't think the order of cards in the discard pile ever matters--just the order of the draw pile.

    This should be titled A Void Dance 3 and Some Like it Cold Part 1. Broken Home can be replayed of the one's that you've done. At least you got a "Nothing Interesting Happens" with extra context to tell you that you were on the right lines. Yet another bossfight that the Evolution of Combat has just completely iced. Mod Moltaire was the JMod who worked on A Void Dance (and later The Void Stares Back with a few others), he clearly knew what he was doing so it boggles my mind that Jagex didn't set him the Sea Slug finale the following year, but instead we got the disaster that was Salt in the Wound. "Hi my name is Raisal and for the next two weeks I'm going to bother you whenever you level up or do other in game activities!" Ping and Pong are by far the best part of the Penguin Quests! This trying to annoy the walrus part is the most awkward part of the quest. Once you are done with that things are much smoother.

    One thing that is everpresent in 5th Age documents is the unreliable narrator, you should be especially skeptical of anything that calls itself doctrine, as you know from Meeting History, he was not the creator of Gielenor, He merely came and decided to be it's caretaker for a while. Time for probably the most ridiculously contrived puzzles in the game ;) this barrel puzzle was really silly especially with the constant dramatic music as well. One thing I've always found odd about this game is that IRL, the director of an agency is the one furthest from the action, they often don't even carry a service weapon, sometimes they have their own security detail. Often the general of an army is furthest from the front. Not the director of the FBC, nope, the director of the FBC is right on the front lines, like Roosevelt leading the rough riders. That's not even just Jesse either, the two most recent directors before her both lead from the front, and got did in for their troubles as well.
